Peppy Hush Puppies Recipe

1 1/4 c Commercial hush puppy mix 1 cn Whole tomatoes (7-1/2 oz) ; drained/chopped 1 sm Onion; chopped 1/4 c Green pepper; chopped 1/4 ts Pepper 1/4 ts Crushed red pepper 1/8 ts Garlic powder 1 pn Baking powder 1 Egg; beaten 1/3 c Beer Vegetable oil Recipe by: Southern Living Combine first 8 ingredients; make a well in center of mixture. Combine egg and beer; add to dry ingredients, stirring just until moistened. Drop batter by tablespoonfuls into deep hot oil (375 degrees); fry only a few at a time, turning once, 3 to 5 minutes or until hush about 1-1/2 dozen. -----
